Ita Buttrose’s Neice Arrested For Assaulting Police

More trouble for the Buttrose clan with reports this morning Ita’s neice has been arrested for assaulting police who arrived at her eastern suburbs Sydney home yesterday evening at 8.30pm.

Lizzie Buttrose, the niece of media legend and Australian of the Year Ita Buttrose, was reportedly abusive and agressive then attacked one of the police officers when they arrived at her home last night and was promptly arrested. It’s unclear why police were called in the first place, however, media reports say the officers were responding to an alarm going off.

News Limited news sites have reported that police had been called to the residence four times over the past two years. On one instance a panic button inside the home had been triggered and another time for an “alleged domestic incident”.

Ms Buttrose was charged with assault and granted conditional bail, media reports have confirmed.

It’s not the first time the Buttrose family have made headlines for all the wrong reasons. In 2010, Ita Buttrose’s nephew, Richard Buttrose, was jailed for 12 years for supplying cocaine.

Richard was apparently known as “The Man” and became one of the best known coke dealers to Sydney’s high society. When the police raided his home in Paddington in Sydney they discovered $1.3 million in cash and six kilograms of the drug with an estimated street value of over $10 million. He has since applied to the courts to have his sentenced reduced.
