Industry Rivals Take To The Court To Help Kids

The media industry will go head to head on the futsal court Thursday the 23 June, as they compete in the fifth Annual UnLtd Cup. Raising funds for UnLtd beneficiary KidsXpress, each team has donated $2,500, the cost to fund a child through KidsXpress’ expressive therapies program, to enter the tournament.

The event has raised $40,000 this year, which will see at least 16 young people undertake an amazing journey in un-doing the damage caused through trauma, family loss and domestic violence.

“I am proud to be part of an industry that is so generous with its time and money to help the community wherever possible. We have now raised $170,000 over the past five years, which has helped KidsXpress to significantly change the lives of young people forever” said Marc Barnett, founder of the UnLtd Cup.

Rivalry is heating up, with 16 teams representing major publishers, agencies, technology companies and trading desks signed up to compete for the chance to win the coveted UnLtd Cup. Fairfax headlines Group A in their bid to make it three wins in a row.

The highlight of Group B is the clash between OMD and Carat for agency bragging rights. Red Planet is the newcomer in Group C, while RadiumOne will be aiming to move past their Semi-Final result of the previous two years from Group D.

The industry has yet again been very supportive of the event with a number of generous sponsorships on board again. The “comScore board” will keep everyone across the results of the day at a packed “AppNexus Stadium”, with all the team kitted out in their own futsal jerseys thanks to ICUR.

Dometic have donated some fantastic prizes, ADG are supplying the banners and signage for the event and Elevate will again be providing a physiotherapist and massage therapist for the day to keep the players on the court for the entire day.

In addition to the on-court action there will be plenty of prizes, a cross bar challenge and a penalty shootout open to both players and spectators.

The celebrity game will return in 2016 with a team of celebrities playing against a team made up of one player from each of the 8 teams that do not qualify for the quarter finals. The celebrity team will consist of: Luke Ricketson, Tim Omaji, Heather Maltman and Andrew Mehrtens.

The post tournament drinks will be held across the road at The Australian, where the whole industry is invited to come celebrate victory and commiserate defeat as the players and spectators enjoy another successful year at the UnLtd Cup.

Date: Thursday 23 June, 10-5pm
Venue: “AppNexus Stadium” KGV Recreation Centre, Cumberland St, The Rocks
Celebrity game: kick off at 3.30pm
Finals and presentations: kick off at 4.15pm
