GoFundMe Announces First Australian Hire

GoFundMe has announced its first hire in Australia as Nicola Britton takes the reins as regional manager.

Britton joins GoFundMe from Sling & Stone where she supported Australian and global tech and startup companies with communications and strategic growth plans.

A former Change.org campaigner, Britton (featured image) brings her knowledge of supporting Australians in embracing technology to tap into online networks to support the causes they care about and will help get GoFundMe’s fundraising tools into the hands of more individuals and organisations.

2019 is set to be a defining year for GoFundMe Down Under after eliminating the platform fee to offer free fundraising to all users, launching the GoFundMe Guarantee, and last week’s launch of the PayPal Giving Fund feature, making charity fundraising easier and faster.

GoFundMe will continue to offer the best in class products to help Australians fundraise for and donate to causes they’re passionate about.

Commenting on her appointment, Britton said: “Having spent years helping Australians realise the potential that technology holds in building powerful networks to help individuals support the issues that matter to them, it excites me incredibly to help continue this work with GoFundMe.

“The nature of giving is shifting globally.

“I have been particularly impressed with GoFundMe’s commitment to trust and safety, putting us at the forefront of this social fundraising revolution.”

GoFundME CEO, Rob Solomon said: “It’s incredibly exciting to put Nicola in the driver’s seat at such a period of rapid expansion for GoFundMe.

“We have witnessed huge momentum as Australians have taken fundraising into their own hands, fundraising and donating to important issues like crisis relief for farmers or providing financial support for families going through a difficult time.”

Solomon added: “GoFundMe has become the internet’s ‘take action’ button, and we continue to rapidly innovate to ensure that we have the safest, most efficient platform to make the social fundraising experience for both individuals and charitable organisations seamless.

“We’re only just getting started and Nicola’s background in supporting innovative tech businesses, campaigning and policy will help us fast-track our ambitions in the market.”
