The ‘Princest Diaries’
A campaign calling for awareness of sexual assault has seen one artist depict Disney princesses being kissed by their fathers.
The artist Saint Hoax said of their poster series campaign called ‘Princest Diaries’: “An awareness campaign targeting minors who have been subject to sexual abuse by a family member. The aim of the poster series is to encourage victims to report their cases in order for the authorities to prevent it from happening again.”
According to Time Magazine the artist hopes that by using the Disney Princess it will appeal to the artist’s audience. “The artist also hopes that the Disney princesses will appeal to the young girls she is trying to reach. Their faces are familiar ones, and in theory young girls might feel more comfortable telling someone about their abuse if they know their heroes suffered the same,” Eliana Dockterman from Time writes.
