It’s beginning to feel a lot like people need to stop complaining on Facebook; David Jones’ black and white Christmas window display is receiving some social media backlash because it lacks ‘festive colours’.

After B&T reported that David Jones was kicking butt with its latest youth focused marketing campaigns,it looks like this round of the department store war has gone to rival Myer.

DJs Christmas window display is being criticised on Facebook and Twitter for making a mistake of biblical proportions with its black and white display. This Christmas the windows at David Jones stores in Melbourne’s Bourke street and Sydney CBD  have been designed by illustrator James Gulliver Hancock.

But people should just calm their farm because Hancock will be appearing throughout the Christmas period to colour in parts of his display.

A David Jones spokesperson has said the windows “tell the story of the David Jones Christmas elves gathering gifts from all corners of the globe to bring back to Santa’s workshop,” and also “showcase James’ unique and playful style, and reflect the fascination for colouring-in that appeals to both young and old.”
