Cranky Camel Sends Kenyan Journalist A Cropper

As any good TV journalist knows, you can’t just report the story – you need to ‘become’ the story.

However, Kenyan journo Thuku Kariuki might be having second thoughts on that after deciding to mount an irascible camel for a recent story.

Reporting on the excitement that is the Maralal International Camel Derby in Samburu, Kenya, the fearless Kariuki thought he’d had some flair to his reporting by doing it atop the humped beast.

Microphone in hand, Kariuki and his assistant mount the camel but, as you’ll see from the hilarious footage below, old Mr Humpy was having none of it from the get-go. Thankfully, neither of the two men were too badly injured.
