The Chaser Boys “Update” George Pell’s Plaque & Weigh-In On Alan Jones’ Ad Woes

St Mary’s Cathedral in Sydney has come under fire for failing to remove a plaque of convicted paedophile Cardinal George Pell following his jailing on child sex offences.

Yesterday, Southern Cross Austereo’s Chaser team, led ably by chief Chaser Charles Firth, decided to modernise the ageing plaque, adding a gold plate engraved with the words “and convicted paedophile” to it.

Check out the stunt below:

And it was a busy day for the Chaser team after they also unveiled a spoof ad on their drive time Triple M show that targeted Alan Jones’ woes and the growing list of advertisers boycotting his programme.

Jones, of course, has seen a flood of high-profile advertisers abandon their sponsorship of his show following on-air comments last week in which he suggested the New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Ardern should have socks shoved down her throat and be given a backhander.

In the ad (which you listen to in full here) a woman’s voice-over declares: “Attention advertisers, are you sick of your business being associated with happy and respectful personalities?”

To which the response comes: “Yes, if only I could associate my brand with grumpy, racist woman hater!”

And now listen to B&T’s recent podcast with The Chaser’s Charles and Dom right here.
