B&T Reporter To Spend Night Behind Bars Following Public Disturbance

B&T reporter Ally burnie is set to spend the night behind bars at Yasmar Juvenile Detention Centre After she was arrested over a public disturbance at El Loco pub in Surry Hills.

While it remains unclear exactly what happened, it is believed the disturbance involved Burnie and two undisclosed TV executives.

A few eye-witnesses reported Burnie became unruly following a remark made by one of the execs.

One witness who asked not to be named said: “I heard shouting and looked over to see what was happening. Something about the woman not being good enough to replace Catriona Rowntree on Getaway.”

Another witness who also wished to remain anonymous said: “The woman looked pretty fired up. Her face was all red and she looked really angry,” adding, “I think it’s a redhead thing.”

Commenting on the incident, B&T editor in chief David Hovenden said he wasn’t surprised to hear of Burnie’s arrest.

“Ally’s been a bit of a loose cannon since she started with us, so I can’t say I’m surprised she’s been arrested,” said Hovenden.

Though no charges have been laid, Burnie will be required to spend a night in prison next Friday 10 May as part of UnLtd’s Adland Bail Out.

She will spend the night with a gang of equally unruly industry leaders, raising money for Whitelion, one of  UnLtd’s charity partners.

In order to be released from prison, she will need to raise $1,000 bail, which will go towards Whitelion’s plight to help disadvantaged youth.

While Hovenden is unimpressed by his newest reporter’s run-in with the law, when asked if she’d get the sack over the incident, he said he had no intention of firing her.

“While I’m not sure what to expect from her next, she’s not a bad reporter, so no, she won’t be fired,” Hovenden said.
