ARN Makes Hughsey & Kate National On KIIS

Australian Radio Network (ARN) has announced the KIIS Network’s number one Drive Show team of Dave “Hughesy” Hughes and Kate Langbroek, known on-air as Hughesy & Kate, will be driving listeners home nationally with their addition on Perth’s 96FM from 4pm on June 22.

Today’s announcement comes hot off the heels of Hughesy & Kate taking out the #1FM network drive position, after just three radio survey ratings results.

Hughesy & Kate bring a fresh, fun dynamic to the drive slot and are heard nationally on KIIS 101.1 in Melbourne, KIIS 1065 in Sydney, 97.3FM in Brisbane, Mix 102.3 in Adelaide and now on 96FM in Perth.

To further strengthen the network offering ARN also announces that the Kyle & Jackie O Hour will also now broadcast in Perth, bringing the latest in celebrity and gossip each weeknight from 6-7pm.

ARN’s chief executive officer Ciaran Davis, said: “The addition of Hughesy & Kate into the station’s line up marks an important and positive step for 96FM’s positioning in the market. Its integration, along with the Kyle & Jackie O Hour, into the KIIS Network provides the perfect foundation for ARN to offer a truly unique national offering across all five metro markets. With the largest listener reach and easy to implement communication solutions, the KIIS Network offers more opportunities than ever for advertisers and agencies.”

ARN’s national content director Duncan Campbell said he was thrilled Perth audiences will soon be able to hear the nation’s #1 Drive Show and the Kyle & Jackie O Hour.

“I am very pleased that our audiences in Perth will now be able to drive home with the much-loved Hughesy & Kate, one of radio’s all-time great partnerships who have established themselves as the country’s most popular Drive show,” Duncan said.

“In addition, including the Kyle & Jackie O Hour as part of our line-up is a key part of our strategy in delivering great shows, the best on-air talent and compelling content for our listeners.”

About the launch of their national drive show into Perth, Hughes said: “I lived in Scarborough for two years. My comedy career started in Northbridge. I love Perth and can’t wait to be on-air with my mate Kate.”

“West is best! Can’t wait to make Perth suffer like the rest of the country,” Langbroek added.

ARN finalised the acquisition of Perth radio station 96FM from Fairfax Media earlier this year, completing a five capital city offering and making ARN the number one Metropolitan Radio Network in Australia.

The acquisition created a unique offering for advertisers and drives further growth for the KIIS network, delivering Australia’s largest national radio audience in the commercially important 25-54 market.
