Amazon Begins Review Of Its Billion-dollar Global Media Account

Tech and retail behemoth Amazon has given Aussie media agencies a reason to be excited, launching a review of its global media buying business (estimated to be worth US$1 billion).

AdWeek recently reported that Amazon issued a request for proposal seeking a media agency to handle its promotional campaigns in the US and other markets across the globe.

Amazon last pitched its global media account back in 2013, with IPG Mediabrands’ Initiative appointed as the agency of record, while WPP’s MEC held onto the digital buying duties for the US.

The news comes as retailers prepare for the huge threat that is Amazon to officially launch Down Under, with one report suggesting its arrival could well be a boon for Aussie ad agencies.
