Seven's ratings break through the rafters

My Kitchen Rules (MKR) chucked MasterChef: The Professionals into the deep fryer last night, attracting 918,000 more viewers than its rival.

More than 1.64 million people tuned into the second episode of MKR last night adding another 263,000 viewers to its Monday result, according to OzTam’s preliminary overnight metro ratings.

Ten’s MasterChef was pushed down to 10th where it attracted 729,000 viewers – down more than 100,000 viewers compared to the night before.

The return of Seven’s family-driven drama Packed to the Rafters was another standout for Seven, pulling in 1.416 million viewers it was the evening’s second most watched program.

MKR also won the 16-39 and 18-49 demographics with Packed to the Rafters in second and MasterChef in third.

The season return of American import Parenthood pulled in 626,000 viewers for Seven and won the 9.30pm timeslot narrowly beating Ten’s NCIS (613,000) while Nine’s 2 Broke Girls was absent from the top 20.

Seven News attracted 1.269 million viewers ahead of Nine News’ 1.208 million, the ABC News’ 912,000 and Ten News at Five on 698,000.

Seven dominated Tuesday night overall with a commanding 35.1% overall share of all free-to-air channels. Nine was more than 10 points behind Seven on 23.5% while Ten took a 18.4% share and was just ahead of the ABC on 17.4%. SBS took 5.7%.
