Seven and Nine perform on par

Audiences flocked to Seven and the Nine in equal numbers last night, with the two TV networks winning exactly 31.6% of total audience each.

Seven’s My Kitchen Rules still came out on top with almost 400,000 more viewers than Nine’s The Block, according to OzTam's free-to-air metro overnight rankings. 

The cooking reality show pulled an audience of 1.68 million while The Block lured 1.3 million.

News and current affairs followed, with Seven News just pipping Nine News. Both scored in excess of a million viewers.

A Current Affair (Nine) sat fourth with 911,000, followed by Home and Away (Seven) and Today Tonight.

ABC News, The Footy Show (Nine) and Bones (Seven) also made it into the top ten.

Ten News at Five just missed out, coming in 11th with 639,000, ahead of Thursday Night NRL Live on Nine, which won 628,000.

Nine’s Hot Seat came in 16th with 517,000, followed by Seven’s Deal or No Deal with 516,000.

Ten’s The Project sat 19th with 471,000.

Network Ten secured 15.2% of total audience, just below the ABC’s 16.5%.
