Saturated fat investigation wins viewers

Television viewers were captured by Catalyst’s investigation into the link between saturated fat and heart disease last night as the ABC program topped the non-news programs.

In third place Catalyst's first part of its ‘Heart of the Matter’ investigation pulled in 944,000 viewers to ABC1 last night, according to OzTam’s preliminary metro ratings.

Redesign My Brain with Todd Sampson was again one of Thursday evening’s most watched entertainment properties, sitting in sixth place the show won over 874,000 people.

The only other entertainment shows to make into the top 10 were Home and Away (864,000) and Big Brother (818,000).

Seven’s Beauty and the Geek won 8.30 pm with 765,000 viewers tuning in. Ten’s Law & Order: SVU came second in the timeslot with an audience of 681,000.

Nine News topped the ratings with 1.04 million viewers. Seven News followed in second place with 977,000. ABC News Update had 882,000 viewers and ranked fourth ahead of ABC News with 877,000 viewers.

Ten Eyewitness News was watched by 538,000 viewers.

Seven won narrowly won the night overall with a total 27.7% share compared to Nine’s 27.5%.

Seven’s main channel took 20.1% share of all free-to-air viewers ahead of the 18.4% for Nine’s.

The ABC won a total 22.4% with 16.4% going to ABC1. Ten sat on a total 16.9% with 11.8% for its min channel.

SBS won 5.5% with 4.8% for SBS One.
