David Fagan’s decision to leave his post at News Limited as Queensland state editorial director has prompted a raft of staffing changes for the publisher.
Fagan will leave the company on June 21 with five promotions to take affect after his departure.
Perth-based editor of The Sunday Times, Chris Dore, has been appointed as editor of The Courier-Mail.
Current The Courier-Mail editor, Michael Crutcher, is leaving the business.
Kim Williams, CEO News Limited, said: “Under Michael the paper has launched its digital subscriptions with news+ and reached new audiences across its digital offerings. We wish him all the very best.”
Williams described Dore as one of the publisher’s “most experienced and talented journalists and editors”.
“I am sure he will do a terrific job leading The Courier-Mail as it continues its transformation into a truly multi-media operation, reflecting the vibrancy and energy of Queensland.”
Editor of the Gold Coast Bulletin, Peter Gleeson, has been moved to editor of The Sunday Mail.
Catherine Webber, current assistant editor of The Daily Telegraph will replace Gleeson at the Gold Coast Bulletin.
Rod Savage will now move to Perth to take up Dore’s former role as The Sunday Times editor.
Current The Sunday Mail editor Scott Thompson has been offered a newly created editorial position in Queensland. He is currently considering the offer.
