The season four premiere of Offspring was Ten’s highest rating show of the evening last night but couldn’t quite muster a spot in the top ten.
The Aussie drama, starring Asher Keddie, claimed 12th place on OzTam’s preliminary metro rankings with 868,000 viewers.
It sat more than 100,000 viewers ahead of Ten News at Five (720,000) and more than 200,000 viewers ahead of Ten’s The Biggest Loser, which just scraped into the top 20 with 596,000.
News and current affairs won the night, led by Nine News (1.39 million) and Seven News (1.26 million). A Current Affair also scored in excess of one million viewers.
Nine’s The Big Bang Theory (1.16 million) was the highest rating non-news program of the evening, sitting in third place above Nine’s The Block (1.16 million).
Seven’s new renovation reality show, House Rules, sat 11th with an audience of 900,000.
Nine’s Arrow sat eighth with 963,000 while Seven’s Home and Away came in ninth with 920,000 viewers.
The largest share of audience went to Nine – but only by a whisker. Nine secured 29.9% of viewers while Seven lured 29.2%. Ten took 17.4% which was lower than the ABC’s 18.9%. SBS secured 4.6%.
