OMD holds onto SCA Hygiene

OMD's hold on the $12m SCA Hygiene Australasia account has lasted a competitive local pitch despite a global alignment brokered with rival media agency ZenithOptimedia last year.

The account is a foundation client from OMD’s entry into the Australian market in 2000.

The account’s hub is OMD Melbourne which looks after media strategy, planning, buying and search for the Libra, Tena, Handee, Deeko and Sorbent brands.

Andrew Phillips, executive general manager of personal care for SCA Hygiene Australasia, said: “SCA has had a productive history with OMD over many years and we are delighted to be extending our partnership.”

Steve Sinha (pictured), OMD Melbourne’s managing director, added: “SCA are a foundation client of OMD Australia and our partnership means an awful lot to us. SCA is a business that focuses on strategic thinking and innovation that is linked to business results – and very much aligns with OMD’s philosophy. We look forward to contributing to SCA’s continued success in Australia as we remain very passionate about their business.”

SCA consolidated its global media and advertising work in August last year.

The review saw BBDO take on the consolidated ad account and ZenithOptimedia win the global media planning and buying work. More details here.
