News and reality a winning combination for Nine

The news shows and Big Brother made for a winning night for Nine last night, as it netted the biggest audience share at 29.8%.

Nine News was the most-watched TV program across Australia’s five metro areas, with 1.164 million people tuning in.

Nine’s A Current Affair was the third most-viewed show (990,000 viewers) and Big Brother came in eighth with an audience of 906,000.

ABC1’s new series Upper Middle Bogan performed well for the network, netting 927,000 viewers as the sixth most popular free-to-air show.

Seven’s new Dynamo: Magician Impossible series (pictured) also premiered last night and attracted an audience of 920,000, putting it in seventh place and helping Seven score the second highest audience share, at 25.4%.

Completing the top 10 was Seven News (1.160 million viewers), Seven’s Today Tonight (963,000 viewers), Seven’s Home and Away (937,000), It’s a Date on ABC1 (877,000) and ABC News (860,000).

The top-ranking show for Ten was Ten News at Five (15th place with an audience of 636,000), followed by Masterchef Australia: Masterclass (17th place with 614,000 viewers).
