Missing flight broadcast pulls in 797,000 viewers

Seven’s broadcast special of The Mystery of Flight MH370 at 8.30pm last night grabbed tenth place in the top twenty, raking in 797,000 viewers.

The hour news program that looked into the mystery surrounding the missing flight and current evidence we have saw the most number of viewers in Sydney (234,000) in the five city metro, according to OzTam preliminary ratings.

Melbourne saw the next highest number of viewers (226,000), with Brisbane next (125,000), then Perth (115,000) with Adelaide coming in last (97,000).

Nine’s The Block retained its high raking, taking out the top place last night with 1.328 million tuning in, helping to bring the network to first place in the total combined share (32.2%).

Of the 32.2% Nine grabbed for its total share, 25% went to the primary channel that aside from The Block also saw programs such as the news, The Footy Show and Hot Seat make the top twenty as well.

Seven came in second last night with its total share being 29.8%, with Seven’s main channel grabbing 20.9% of that share.

Helping to bring Seven to second place was the broadcast of the missing Malaysian flight, as well as Border Security (791,000 viewers), Seven News (1.114 million) and Home and Away (886,000 viewers).

ABC came in third with an 18.6% share, 13.3% of that going to its primary station, ABC1.

ABC’s Janet King and The Checkout both made the top twenty, with both seeing 770,000 viewers each.

Ten came fourth with a total share of 14.5%, 9.2% of that going to its primary channel.

SBS came fifth with 4.9% as SBS One grabbed 4% of the share.
