Mi9 promotes Steve Geelan

Steve Geelen will be the new director of commercial partnerships, Mi9 has revealed today.

Mi9’s Steve Geelan will kick-off 2014 in a newly formed role for the digital media business, after this week being promoted to Director of Commercial Partnerships.

Steve will drive integration with Mi9’s network partners and manage the Microsoft strategic relationship. After spearheading the launch of BingAds this year he will also continue to lead the challenger brand’s market push as the alternate option for paid search in Australia.

Commercial Director Marc Barnett announced Steve’s promotion and explained that recent expansions to Mi9’s remit have brought about this new role.

“With Microsoft moving to a strategic partner, the announcement that we’re bringing the Daily Mail to Australia and the ongoing importance of commercial relationships with Bauer, Ticketek, Hoyts and now Cricket Australia – we have looked at our commercial org and appointed a dedicated Director to build a team to manage these partnerships,” said Commercial Director Marc Barnett.

“Our business is constantly evolving and this means we’re continually creating new opportunities for great people.

“Steve is an excellent people leader who lives and breathes every one of Mi9’s values. Over the past 15 months Steve has been instrumental in the success of the MMN business the launch of BingAds and we look forward to him extending his professionalism to our key commercial partnerships,” said Barnett.

Steve started at Mi9 15 months ago as National Sales Director of the Microsoft Media Network and earlier this year also spearheaded the launch of BingAds Australia.

Steve has over 15 year’s media sales experience in the UK and Australia, across the out of home and online sectors.  Prior to taking on his current role at Mi9, Steve was the General Manager for Australia and New Zealand at Valued Interactive Media; a key behavioural and data partner in the online space for a number of mainstream clients.

Steve’s out of home media sales experience has included senior roles at each Adshel and EYE Corp, affording him valuable media owner side experience across the commercial, sales, marketing, product development and operations business functions.

Mi9 is also currently recruiting for a Head of Commercial Partners who will report into Steve and become an integral part of the team he’s building.
