Ja'mie scores a 'quiche' ratings result

Ja’mie: Private School Girl was “quiche” last night in the ratings as the return of Chris Lilley’s narcissistic character won over just under one million Australians.

Coming in as Wednesday evening’s fifth most watched show Ja’mie fans welcomed the character, who first hit our screen in 2005, back with gusto after a six year hiatus.

The show sent the word “quiche” trending across Twitter after Ja’mie introduced it as a term used when someone is “better than hot”.

The comedy pulled in 924,000 viewers to ABC1 when it kicked off just after 9pm, according to OzTam’s preliminary metro ratings.

Ja’mie beat Nine’s Hostages which sat in 18th place at 9pm with 556,000 viewers and outperformed Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (731,000) and Ten’s Wonderland (499,000). S.H.I.E.L.D and Wonderland kicked off for an hour at 8.30pm.

The Gruen Planet was the ABC’s ratings star, coming in second only to Nine News (1.142 million) it pulled in 1.07 million viewers.

The ABC won a 20.9% share of all free-to-air viewers with 14.9% going to ABC1.

The Bachelor was Ten’s most watched program, coming in 12th place with 676,000 viewers. The network took a total 18.5% share of viewers with 12.2% to Ten’s primary channel.

Nine won the night with a total 28.7% share ahead of Seven’s 27.3%.

Seven’s main channel sat on 18.8% while Nine’s took 19.7%.
