Ikea hands Match Media full media account

Match Media has retained Ikea Australia’s media account, following the furniture giant’s review of its agency partners.

Incumbent media buying agency MediaCom, which handled media buying while Match handled media strategy, will be removed from the account this month.

Match Media is now the full service media agency for Ikea Australia, handling both media strategy and media buying.

The appointment follows last week’s news that Mango PR has been appointed PR agency for Ikea Australia, with One Green Bean no longer working on the account.

Rebecca Darley, Ikea Australia marketing director, said: “Our relationship with Match over the past 10 years has grown from strength to strength and we are thrilled to enhance our partnership with them.

“During the pitch process we were impressed by the recent addition of their media buying offering as well as their ongoing strategic capabilities and their relentless passion for our brand.

“We would like to extent our thanks to MediaCom for their partnership and professionalism over the last six years and wish them much success for the future.”

John Preston, founder and CEO of Match, added: “Ikea is Match Media’s foundation client. To have retained the business for 10 years is in itself a fantastic milestone. To now be appointed as the full service agency is a tremendous achievement, one that we are very proud of.

“In the past 10 years of working with Ikea, we have evolved and grown to meet their marketing and media service needs. We look forward to what the next period of appointment brings and continuing to work with the dynamic Ikea team.”

Ikea Australia is continuing to work with The Monkeys as creative agency.
