Home and Away wins top spot

The Home and Away 2013 finale topped the ratings this Wednesday, a night where viewers turned out in force to get their fill of local and national news.

With 1.145 million viewers Seven’s Home and Away was the evening’s most watched show and the most watched entertainment property, according to OzTam’s preliminary metro ratings.

It came ahead of six news and current affairs programs, which made up the majority of Wednesday night’s top 10.

Seven News (1.081 million) beat Nine News (1.057 million) and Today Tonight (1.001 million) also outperformed Nine’s A Current Affair (777,000).

ABC News came fifth with 813,000 viewers while 7.30 ranked eighth with an audience of 688,000. ABC’s QI rounded off the top 10 with 626,000 viewers.

The only other entertainment program in the top 10 was Nine’s RBT (719,000).

Ja’mie: Private School Girl dropped slightly from last week’s result to 623,000 viewers. It came second at 9pm to the second half of Seven’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (628,000).

This time last week’s Ten had the most watched show of the night with the finale of The Bachelor helping the network to take a total 22% share of all free-to-air viewers.

Without The Bachelor Ten’s share sunk to a total 16.5%, with 9.8% for its main channel. The network’s most watched show last night was Ten Eyewitness News (604,000).

Seven won the night with a combined 31.8% of all viewers with 23.6% going to its primary channel.

Nine came second with 17.8% for its main channel and a total 27%. ABC was third with a total 19.3% and 12.9% for ABC1.

SBS took 5.4% with 4.7% for SBS ONE.
