Comedians take over Nova breakfast for Easter

Comedian Dave Hughes is set to return to Nova’s studios on April 14 to fill-in for the network’s local breakfast teams with a new national program, Hughesy & Friends.

Joining Hughesy on-air while the breakfast teams are on Easter break will be comedians Tom Ballard, Tom Gleeson, Wil Anderson and his former Nova 100 breakfast co-host Kate Langbroek.

Langbroek and Hughesy wrapped up their 12-year Nova 100 breakfast show in late 2013.

“After spending the last couple of weeks on my standup tour, I can’t wait to take my natural sitting position behind the microphone,” Hughesy said.

“ I’m especially excited to be broadcasting around Australia with the best comic talents this country has produced.”

Paul Jackson, NOVA Entertainment’s group program director, added: “We are delighted that Hughesy is returning to Nova when the breakfast teams across the country take a well-earned break. He’s a great broadcaster and one of the most successful comedians in the country and we can’t wait for listeners nationally to hear him on air at Easter and again later in the year. ”

Hughesy & Friends will fill in for Nova’s local breakfast shows Sydney’s Fitzy & Wippa, Melbourne’s Meshel & Tommy, Brisbane’s Ash, Kip & Luttsy and Adelaide’s Lewis & Lowe in the lead up to Easter.

Nova 937 Perth’s Nova’s Nathan, Nat and Shaun will remain on air and take a break later in the year.

Hughesy and his gaggle of fellow comedians will be heard on-air from April 14 to April 17, 6am to 9am.

Hughesy is currently performing his standup show ‘Pointless’ at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, which Nova sponsors.
