Big Bang Theory beats Revenge

Nine’s long-running American sitcom The Big Bang Theory erupted into third place last night, beating Seven’s new season of Revenge.

The sitcom of science nerds, which commonly sits out of the top ten, won 1.28 million viewers, according to OzTam's metro overnight rankings. 

It placed the program just below Seven’s My Kitchen Rules which came first with 1.79 million and The Block: All Stars which drew 1.53 million.

Seven’s Revenge sat fourth with 1.26 million, followed by Seven News on 1.22 million and Nine News on 1.21 million.

Seven’s Today Tonight still cracked the million mark, but A Current Affair (Nine) missed out, taking 992,000 viewers.

Seven’s Home and Away just missed out on a spot in the top ten, coming in 11th with an audience of 940,000.

The ABC took the next five consecutive rankings (Four Corners, Media Watch, Q&A, Australian Story, 7:30) and was proceeded by Ten News at Five in 17th place.

Ten’s news bulletin was its only show in the top 20 programs of the night.

Seven took the largest share of audience with 32% while Nine won 30.3%. The ABC’s share shot up to 20.1%, while Ten dwindled on 13.6%. SBS won 4%.
