ABC’s new app headed by former Fairfax journalist

ABC Innovation has appointed former Fairfax journalist, Matt Buchanan (pictured), as editor of its soon to be released tablet app ‘The Brief’.

The new app is designed to showcase a variety of stories from across the ABC.

“’The Brief’ will aim to introduce new audiences to ABC’s content and it is almost certain we’ll make some mistakes along the way so we needed an Editor who was keen to explore new boundaries with us,” Angela Clark, ABC director of innovation, said.

“Matt’s brings a breadth of skills across both traditional and digital media and he was someone who understood the challenges of this project and was excited by them.”

Buchanan added: “I’m thrilled to be the editor of ‘The Brief’ and to be part of the ABC Innovation team. They are at the forefront of digital media apps and it’s an area I’m really passionate about. The Brief is an exciting project, it’s something that doesn’t currently exist on the market with its combination of multimedia content and topical features.”

The app is set to be released early May.
