Zeemo & Sleepbus Partner To Help The Homeless

Zeemo has joined forces with non-profit Sleepbus to provide a safe night’s sleep for Australia’s homeless. Sleepbus is a not-for-profit organisation with the aim of ending the need to sleep rough in Australia.

They hope to achieve this by fitting out buses with sleep pods, which provide safe overnight accommodation for those who would otherwise be sleeping rough on the street. The team behind Sleepbus believe that ‘sleep changes everything’, so hope that by providing people with a good night’s sleep the pathways out of homelessness will become a little clearer.

The charity is the brainchild of CEO and founder, Simon Rowe, who was inspired to solve the problem of people sleeping rough in Australia after encountering a homeless man in St Kilda East. The experience reminded him of a time back in 1993 when he himself was homeless and living out of his car. He felt that he had to do something and began brainstorming ways to get these people off the streets for the night.

After hearing about the cause, the team at Zeemo was excited to get on board by donating their time, experience and energy in the creation of the Sleepbus brand and website. As well as being responsive (the website can be viewed on any device), the site has an in-built donation functionality that allows people to donate via PayPal.

The Sleepbus website supports three different methods of donation – the first is a one time donation, the second is a monthly recurring donation and the third is the ability to set up a fundraising campaign of your own (raise funds however you want, from hosting a morning tea to doing something completely out of the box). A donation of $27.50 will provide one person with one safe sleep.

Sleepbus also appreciates corporate support to help keep the charity running and allow them to use 100 per cent of public donations to fund ongoing projects. This can be achieved through a monetary gift towards operation costs, joining the Bus Fuel membership program (whereby donors gift a set amount towards operating costs each year) or giving a gift in kind (such as technologies and supplies).

With the first bus due to launch soon, Sleepbus will be on their way to achieving their vision of 300 buses, providing more than two million safe sleeps every year, nationwide.
