South Africa’s MRP To Join Long List Of Budget Retailers Coming To Australia

Move over Zara, TopShop and H&M, it looks like South African fashion retailer MRP is set to open to Melbourne Central in October.

MRP is one of South Africa’s most popular low-priced fashion retailers and a successful online store which ships worldwide. The fashion retailer has been hailed as having an ‘infectious brand personality’ with over 440 stores, mainly in southern Africa.

“As a business based in the southern hemisphere, we’re able to offer Australians a relevant, seasonal and trend-led assortment,” MRP chief executive Stuart Bird said.

“While initially we will focus on our MRP apparel stores, there is potential to follow with our MRPHome and MRPSport divisions.”

MRP managing director, Nicci Lyne said: “We are thrilled to be opening our doors in the heart of Melbourne. We believe fashion is for everyone which is why we offer the latest looks at an everyday great price.”

The Mr Price Group, MRP’s parent company, sells predominantly its own branded merchandise. It has a total of 1,150 stores globally, an online channel and was ranked fourth in the Sunday Times Business Times Top 100 Companies in South Africa.
