Princess Charlotte’s $17 Cardigan A Sell Out After Birthday Snap

Think the British Royals only gad about in designer Savile Row clobber that costs a mint? Well, apparently not after it was revealed the cardigan worn by Princess Charlotte for her second birthday photograph cost a mere £10 ($A17) from a rather ordinary high street store.

Proving that Wills and Kate are “one of the people”, the cardigan worn by Charlotte in the shot taken by her mother has been revealed as coming from retailer John Lewis.

And there’s nothing like a bit of Royal endorsement and exposure to help sales, with the retailer revealing the yellow cardigan with little blue sheep sold out immediately after the public release of the image.

If you want one, they’re apparently available on eBay for twice the price.

And it’s not the first time the young Princess has created a fashion frenzy. The cream cardigan she wore in her first birthday photo snap also sold out. It has been reported that Princess Charlotte will be worth more than £3 billion ($A5.2 billion) to the British economy across her lifetime.
