Origin Energy Uses Weather To Market Solar Offering In Outdoor Campaign

Utility company Origin Energy is highlighting its solar energy capabilities with a campaign through Inlink that uses outside weather conditions to prompt solar ads.

Using Inlink’s digital out-of-home SmartAds technology, Origin is sponsoring a four-day weather forecast that highlights special wording when the sun is shining, encouraging people to buy solar energy installations from Origin Energy.

Media agency Mindshare engaged Inlink for the campaign that will run on 1,200 screens in major city CBDs in eastern Australia and reach a target audience of almost 800,000 office workers.

On a sunny day in each of the cities, in addition to the evolving forecast on each of the screens, a message will say ‘Today is perfect for Solar. Don’t waste your roof. Make energy fresh daily’.

Inlink’s SmartAds technology allows clients to alter their messaging to show real-time data, creating much higher degrees of relevancy and therefore the capability to influence people’s impulse decision-making.
