Magnum & Co Founder Michelle Hampton Invests In Twin Sister’s “Un-nerdy” Agency

Michelle Hampton (pictured above), founder of integrated agency Magnum & Co, has announced her equity investment in specialist digital group The Wired Agency.

Now in its fourth year, Wired specialises in digital advertising and search engine marketing, and has been making noise in the industry recently for its hallway focus on hyper-adaptation across all its services, particularly off the back of being announced as Pizza Hut’s new digital agency.

Hampton’s interest in Wired stems from the belief that search and digital advertising should be reserved for specialists.

“I wish I got paid a dollar every time I heard all-rounders say they offer specialist digital advertising,” she said.

“While they may not mean to, they’re telling porkies. We know all areas of marketing are in constant change, but digital advertising and search engine marketing is on a far more elevated trajectory. So, even if you do just this every day, all day, you may only then have a chance of being at the forefront.

“One of the things that really stood out about Wired when I was looking to invest, was how ‘un-nerdy’ the team is and how well they connect to their clients on a personal level. They’ve managed to nail the balance between professional and technical expertise, which they have in droves, and their people-first approach.

“Added to this, much of their team hails from the likes of Google, so they are at the tip of the industry, without a doubt.”

Hampton sees the move as further enhancing Magnum’s play at true integration, with Wired already collaborating on several projects.

“Our plan at Magnum has always been to develop the best possible structure to offer our clients true insights-led integration,” she said.

“Magnum continues to invest internally in digital experts who are further developing our services across email, content and mobile marketing and ramping up our paid media services. With the success of our recently-launched influencer marketing offering, Magnetic, we are excited about how we continue to immerse ourselves in the evolving nature of our industry.

“Having a connection with Wired means Magnum can authentically close the loop on client conversations that require specialist digital advertising and SEM.”

Wired founder Angela Hampton (pictured above, right) sees the investment as a unique opportunity to draw on her twin sister’s intimate knowledge of agency land and her success in building businesses for sustained growth.

“We’re confident we’ve nailed our offering having invested heavily in our people and services, but what we’re most excited about with Michelle’s involvement is how much she understands the inner workings of business and the intricacies around best practice structures,” she said.

Hampton will continue as a director of Magnum & Co while spreading her time across the two agencies.
