KFC Unveils Slightly Ugly Hat Modelled On One Of Its Famous Buckets

Aussie cricket fans may have been sticking a KFC bucket on their heads for years, but it appears the “trend” has now gone global.

KFC in Russia – desperate to reinvigorate its dowdy image – has teamed with St. Petersburg-based streetwear brand Mam Cupy to unveil a “bucket hat” shaped like one of the Colonel’s famous greasy chicken receptacles.

The idea’s the work of Wieden + Kennedy Amsterdam and comes after research showed that the Russian franchise was slipping behind its global counterparts in the marketing department.

The launch even comes with its very own promo video.

Want to snare yourself a snazzy KFC bonnet? Well, they’re currently selling on the Mam Cupy website for 1,800 rubles ($A41).

Or, if you want to stay on trend but haven’t got any cash to splash, why not take-up the cheaper option favoured by Australian cricket fans below.

Commenting on the new 1,800 ruble hat, KFC Russia marketing director Daniel Rubinovski  said: “The brand follows the aspirations for creativity and innovation set by the founder, Colonel Sanders, and this time it brings to life our iconic chicken bucket in a fascinating and experimental way.

“We hope this will excite KFC fans, and who knows what will serve as inspiration for future partnerships?”
