Gucci Blasted Over Dirty $1175 Sneakers

Luxury brand Gucci is charging $1,175 for a pair of dirty, scuffed shoes.

The brand described the shoes, labeled the “Screener GG sneaker”, as “vintage”, “old school” with an “allover distressed effect”.

Selling the intentionally dirty sneakers for such a high price has shoppers in disbelief.

Gucci is not immune to design controversy.

Just last week, B&T reported on the social media backlash that erupted over a “blackface” turtleneck.

The $890 jumper, which featured a high neckline and a printed pair of red “lips” led some social media users to call out Gucci for blackface.

Gucci apologised, posting on Twitter that it was committed to diversity and considered it a “fundamental value to be fully upheld, respected and at the forefront of every decision we make.”

The jumper has since been pulled from sale.

The dirty sneakers, however, at the time of publishing are still available to purchase, if you so desire.
