eBay Snares Amex’s Julie Nestor For CMO Role

Online marketplace eBay has announced the appointment of Julie Nestor as its new chief marketing officer.

Nestor has more than 20 years of marketing experience in Australia and Hong Kong, and was most recently the vice president of consumer marketing at American Express.

In her new role as CMO at eBay, she will be responsible for driving results through an increased focus on loyalty, personalisation and partnerships.

Tim MacKinnon, managing director for eBay in Australia and New Zealand, said the hire of Nestor was a strategic move for the online marketplace, which has had a presence in Australia for 18 years.

“We’re excited to welcome Julie to eBay,” he said. “Julie brings a wealth of experience in consumer marketing, loyalty, payments, and in partnering with Australian retailers.”

Commenting on her new role, Nestor said: “My role at American Express has given me an understanding of data, online and what merchants need to grow their sales.

“Retail, especially online, is in an extremely dynamic period, and I’m looking forward to working closely with the eBay leadership team to help 40,000 Australian retailers to grow their businesses.”
