Aussie tabloid Woman’s Day were first on the scene with reports of a Mariah Carey/James Packer split, and now have suffered the damning wrath of the diva herself.
Carey has thrown buckets of shade at the publication, after it reported that a source close to the couple had confirmed that their engagement was over, news that quickly spread worldwide.
Overnight, Carey posted a pic to Instagram, posing with friend and manager Stella Bulochnikov and captioning the pic: “#realfriends who don’t read Woman’s Day #wedontknowyou We love you #Australianlambs.”
The mention of ‘Australian lambs’ is not in fact an expression of Carey’s love for a tasty Aussie lamb rack, but a reference to her Aussie fanbase, christened her ‘lambily’. The ‘we don’t know you’ mention is a bit of a shout out to an infamous line delivered by Carey when asked about her pop rival Jennifer Lopez.
But contrary to reports of a split by Woman’s Day, the couple was just in the middle of a big fight, with Carey actually releasing a presser on the issue.
“Mariah Carey and James Packer had a fight in Greece. They have not seen each other since,” the statement read.
“The fight was not because of cheating allegations or excessive spending by Mariah. James is one of the most successful businessmen in the world.
“They are trying to work it out but right now they are not sure if they will stay together. They are discussing it and plan to release a statement about their future.”
