Liberal Senator Takes Stand Against Made Up Anti-Magnum Ice Cream Campaign

South Australian Liberal politician Alex Antic released a bizarre Facebook post decrying the ‘radical left’, as he said he feared for the future of Magnum ice-creams for glorifying gun violence.

The post was unusual as there is no campaign trying to cancel Magnums for “glorifying gun violence”, as Senator Antic has claimed.

Indeed, a simple Google Search of “magnum gun violence” draws no protests, Twitter campaigns or petitions – just articles about the Senator’s own Facebook post.

In the post, Antic writes, “taking a moment in between estimates sessions to eat a MAGNUM before the radical left try to cancel it for glorifying gun violence.”

“I’m just going to keep ignoring them and so should you.”

The post has four likes and 150 comments.

Some supported Antic’s campaign against the non-exist anti-Magnum campaign, commenting, “Bravo Alex! Keep fighting the food fight!”

Another simply stated, “another liberal senator who spends their time in canberra not working.”

Antic’s sudden fear over the fate of the Magnum may have been spurred by a widely reported on campaign to change the name of Street’s Golden Gaytime ice-cream due to the word ‘Gay’ in the title.

However,  members of the LGBTQ+ community quickly objected to the campaign, saying that the name Golden Gaytime was empowering, not offensive.
