Picking yourself up from the coronavirus is no different from how an elite athlete comes back from adversity, or so says the latest work from Nike.
The new spot is called “Never too far down | You can’t stop us” and is the work of its fabled creative agency Wieden+Kennedy.
Narrated by basketball royalty LeBron James, it shows a host of Nike sponsored athletes – including Tiger Woods, Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka, Rafael Nadal and Cristiano Ronaldo – all coming back from adversity in their careers.
Ultimately, the ad proves a metaphor for everyone’s response to getting back up from the global pandemic.
There’s even a nod to the legendary David Bowie, as it’s all set to a piano version of his 1971 masterpiece Life On Mars?

Commenting on the ad, LeBron James said in a statement: “The whole world, we’re fighting for something bigger than a championship right now. People are struggling, and this continues to be an incredibly difficult time. For me, thinking forward to a time when we’ll be able to play again, it keeps me going.
“Even if basketball looks different for a while, I’m excited about the possibility of getting back in the game because I know how inspiring and powerful sports can be. I think the lessons we learn from sport can inspire us all.”
