Landor Melbourne Hires New Creative Director

Landor Melbourne has hired Derek Samuel as creative director to build on their recent growth and success with clients such as City of Melbourne, Crown Resorts, Simplot and 7-Eleven.

Award-winning creative director Samuel brings over 20 years of international branding experience to the role, having held positions in New York, London, Sydney and Melbourne.

He has developed identity solutions for high profile brands such as Liberty of London, Aveda, Harrods, Nestle, Gillette, Diageo, Westpac and Brown Forman. Most recently, Samuel has been the creative lead at Cornwell in Melbourne and Designworks in Sydney.

“It was the people, and the great opportunities to help grow the creative offering, that attracted me to Landor Melbourne,” Samuel said.

“Landor is an agency with big ambitions and an international outlook, and that’s a good fit for my own outlook and experience. I look forward to providing inspiration to both the Landor team and our clients.”

Mike Staniford, executive creative director, SEAPJ, added, “I am delighted that we have attracted Derek to this all-important role in our Melbourne office. His diverse experience, along with an award-winning track record in design, will bring an exciting new dimension to our team and in turn our client business in Australia.”

Landor Melbourne’s general manager, Nick Davis, is confident Derek will bring the right mix of creativity and innovative thinking to the position.

“We’re challenged every day to do great work, but also to innovate in how we approach what we do and, ultimately, what we deliver. I see Derek being a big part of shaping how we develop Landor’s offering in Melbourne,” concluded Davis.
