Radio icon & advertising great Peter Harvie passed away earlier this week, and Kyle Sandilands has posted a worthy and touching tribute.
Harvie made a significant impact on the Australian radio industry, but he actually started out at Clemenger and then jumped to running the Triple M Network.
Harvie had plenty of career highlights; for instance, when he was at Austereo, he was the man that led the merger for it to become what it is now: SCA.
He was also known for mentoring radio’s best talent, from Hamish Blake and Andy Lee to Kyle Sandilands Harvie wasn’t just respected within the industry; he was also beloved.
While there’s been an outpouring of tributes to Harvie, Sandiland’s post on Twitter showed a softer side of the shock-jock and has managed to sum up the impact Harvie has had on the industry.
Sandilands wrote: “Just heard of the death of former SCA Director Peter Harvie. Peter was a true boss in every sense of the word. He saved me more than once in my career and, above all, allowed creative people to shine. Peter will be missed, but his teachings and guidance will live on.”

The Amanda and Jonesy Show Twitter Account replied to Sandilands’ tweet.
He was always ready to lend an ear.

There’s no denying that Harvie left his mark, but it’s also lovely to see Sandilands show his affection for the radio boss, who will be greatly missed.
