King Content Appoints New Editorial Chief

King Content has announced the appointment of Michael Butler as its new head of editorial on the back of massive revenue growth during the last financial year.

Butler has more than 20 years’ experience in content marketing, having most recently worked as the senior editorial manager at Editor Group.

He has held a number of other editorial management positions at various marketing agencies and media groups, including Edge, Key Media, Derwent Howard, and Text Pacific.

King Content said Butler will be responsible for leading the development and execution award-winning content strategies for the agency’s growing list of clients.

“We are very excited to have Michael join the company,” King Content’s CEO, Craig Hodges, said.

“His demonstrated passion for the power of content in brand strategy will drive our local editorial efforts to the next level and see our clients’ stories create increasingly meaningful interactions with their audiences.”

Butler said he was delighted to join a “dynamite” agency “brimming with talent”.

“They’re already a force to be reckoned with and the only agency with offices in Asia, Europe, and the US,” he said.

“With backing from [ASX-listed company] iSentia, we can launch into these key markets with confidence and strength.

“I’m looking forward to helping our clients tell stories that resonate locally and globally.”

Butler’s appointment comes after iSentia revealed last week in its FY16 results announcement that King Content posted pro-forma year-on-year revenue growth of 68 per cent to $20.6 million, proving it to be quite the buy for iSentia.
