John-Paul Langbroek, a Queensland opposition MP and brother of KIIS FM’s Kate Langbroek, has used her national drive radio show to deny claims that he billed taxpayers to engage in extra-marital behaviour with prostitutes.
According to the ABC, The Member for Surfers Paradise claimed more than $800 to stay overnight three times last year at charity events close to his home on the Gold Coast, and has vowed to repay taxpayers for accommodation costs in his electorate.
However, a number of recent posts on social media have suggested that Mr Langbroek was instead having a jolly good time with hookers during his hotel stays.
Mr Langbroek appeared on sister Kate’s radio show — which she co-hosts with comedian Dave Hughes — to clear the air, claiming that he had been with wife Stacey at the three charity events.
“Where has this come from?” he said.
“Really sorry to people who have felt it was the wrong thing — even though, according to our rules it was okay.”
His sister then stepped in and questioned his remorse over charging taxpayers for the accommodation costs.
“Oh, that doesn’t sound like you’re sorry – that actually sounds like a justification. Don’t use that tone – apologise again,” Ms Langbroek said.
And Mr Langbroek caved: “I’m sorry and I won’t do it again.”
