Former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has made his first appearance as TV host during an episode of CNN’s international global affairs program Amanpour.
During the broadcast, K-Rudd interviewed Chinese vice-finance minister Zhu Guangyao, UN executive director for climate change Christiana Figueres and climate change expert professor Lord Nicholas Stern.
He also made a terrible Ashes joke about an exchange with a customs official in a London Airport:
“He says to me, ‘what do you call an Australian who’s good with a bat’?”
“Respectfully, I replied, ‘I have no idea’.
“He then says to me, ‘a vet, of course’.”
Just hosted @CNN Amanpour program. Didn’t stuff it up completely. Tricky asking questions while not answering them :) pic.twitter.com/sqMQdXpKZ5

Twitter’s response:
Kevin Rudd – the next #Amanpour. A sight I thought I’d never seen. Then again these days, expect the unexpected. #RuddhostsCNN — Elly Kohistani (@EKohistani) August 30, 2015

Kevin Rudd on CNN. Like we needed more posturing and jibberish from the second worst prime minister of Aus ever. #awkward #amanpour

Kevin Rudd was one of the sanest politicians we had in the recent past, but he’s too stiff for a career in journalism. #Amanpour
