Former Apple Ambassador Justin Long Jumps Ship To PC In New Ads For Intel

Around 10 years ago, actor Justin Long was Apple’s man. he appeared alongside John Hodgman in a number of iconic ‘Get a Mac’ ads, touting the perks of Mac computers compared to PCs.

Fast forward to 2021 and things have changed. Computer maker Intel has recruited long to front a new ad campaign for their devices, this time highlighting the advantages of a PC compared to a Mac.

The ‘Justin Gets Real’ campaign looks at a number of different sticking points for computer shoppers, including gaming, monitor plugins and touch screens.

And while the original Mac vs PC ads saw Long actually introduce himself as a Mac (“Hello, I’m a Mac”), this time around he says, “Hello I’m a… just a Justin”.

And while the ads are all in good fun, there has been serious rivalry between the two companies in recent years.

Last year, Apple revealed it had dumped Intel’s processers in its latest MacBooks and instead would be designing its own ARM-based chips to power its computers moving forwards.

Early reviews suggest Apple’s processors stack up against Intel – which has seen Intel take a leaf out of Apple’s book and start making direct references to its competitor in its marketing campaigns.

In February, Intel unveiled a new marketing slogan which takes a direct swipe at Apple: “If you can power a rocket launch and launch Rocket League, you’re not on a Mac. Go PC”.
