Julie Andrews Gets Her Own Children’s Show On Netflix

The news coming out of Netflix this morning makes you want to be a kid again, just so you can stare dreamily at the childhood delight that is Julie Andrews.

The poised British actress is launching her own children’s TV show, Julie’s Greenroom, on the dominant video streaming site. It’s aimed at pre-schoolers and will feature a plethora of puppet characters discussing the performing arts. It’ll be available early 2017.

The series was created by Andrews and her daughter Emma Walton Hamilton and screenwriter Judy Rothman-Rofe, with Andrews executively producing the show. Revel in a preview of it below.

“This project represents the fulfilment of a long held dream to educate children about the wonder of the arts,” said Andrews in a statement.

“I am thrilled to be partnering with my daughter and long-time coauthor, Emma, to bring this show to life along with our co-creator, Judy Rothman-Rofė. We could not be more honoured to be working with the extraordinary Jim Henson Company. We are equally delighted to be premiering as a Netflix original production.”

And it’s been a treat to work with Andrews, put in Andy Yeatman, director of global kids content at Netflix.

“This show is all about awakening children’s interest in the performing arts while introducing a new era of puppets to the viewers,” he said.

“The best of the best have joined together to bring Julie’s Greenroom to Netflix,” added Lisa Henson, CEO of The Jim Henson Company, the entertainment company behind the new show.

“Our award-winning director, Tony-nominated puppeteers, Broadway composer, and accomplished guest artists, led by the incomparable Julie Andrews, together will inspire kids to explore, appreciate and celebrate all forms of performing arts.”
