Production Assistant

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented web production assistant to join our newsroom in Sydney.

Guardian Australia (www.theguardian.com/au) launched in May 2013 as part of Guardian News & Media (GNM), one of the largest English language newspaper websites in the world (www.theguardian.com).

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented web production assistant to join our newsroom in Sydney.

In this role you will work as part of our global central production team to monitor sites and work with colleagues to ensure the highest editorial, technical, production and design standards are maintained across the Guardian network. Dealing with daily production requests and queries from editorial and project teams from our global offices, you will also troubleshoot technical issues and manage production-related communications as required.

If you have previous journalistic experience in a print or online environment, knowledge of web production and experience working in a changing and pressurised environment, we’d like to hear from you. An interest in web journalism and an understanding of the Guardian’s editorial values is also essential.

For more information please view the full job description here.

To apply for this position, please upload your résumé (maximum three pages) plus covering letter as one document by following this link.

In your covering letter please outline your motivation for applying for the role, why you think you are suitable and why you are looking to leave or have left your current/past position.

This role is being offered on a full-time, 12-month contract, working over a seven-day roster (ordinarily including at least one weekend day) with early starts and/or late finishes.

Closing date for applications: 24 September 2021

If you require an adjustment to be made during the recruitment process, please email australia.hr@theguardian.com

We believe that our role in the Australian media is to give a voice to the most marginalised people in society and value and respect all differences in all people — including people of colour, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from different social classes and people with disabilities (seen and unseen). We believe that these communities must be centred in the work we do, bringing a new perspective and a diversity of thought. We strongly encourage applications from people with these identities and/or marginalised groups.
