We are looking for a news producer to join our editorial team on a 12-month contract, to be based in either the Sydney or Melbourne office.

We are looking for a news producer to join our editorial team on a 12-month contract.
The News producer will be responsible for the full range of production tasks for Guardian Australia, including subediting and publishing stories, displaying them on the website and disseminating through social media. The role will also be responsible for providing cover for the deputy production editor/production editor and news desk editors as required.
This role will suit an experienced producer with significant subbing experience in both online and print, expertise in using web tools for editing and layout and an awareness of the needs and interests of Guardian Australia’s readers/audience. The successful candidate will have excellent production and communication skills, a meticulous eye for detail and grammar, the ability to handle writers’ copy sensitively, a flair for writing headlines and the ability to edit copy quickly and accurately under pressure.
