We are seeking a New South Wales state reporter to join our newsroom in Sydney.

We are seeking a New South Wales state reporter to join our newsroom in Sydney.

In this role you will write news stories and features on NSW state issues, in consultation with the NSW state correspondent and Guardian Australia editors. You will cover stories in innovative ways, including live-blogging, social media, podcasts, video and interactive reports. You will also make contacts and develop story areas for Guardian Australia’s NSW readers and demonstrate a willingness for the audience to participate in your work.

This role will suit a skilled reporter with experience working in a fast-changing and high-pressure news environment, preferably on a news website. The successful candidate will have good knowledge of NSW state politics and current affairs, familiarity and ease with social media, good understanding of media law, excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills and a strong news sense. Video and audio experience, and an interest in a specialist area, would be an advantage.
