Fancy swapping London’s two-tone grey skyline for Sydney’s emerald harbour? Do you prefer walks on the beach to walks through Asda car park? Or perhaps the life of an endless summer appeals more than the endless tube commute.
The Misfits Media Company is offering a City University journalism post grad a full time job in Australia (we’ll even look after the visa).
Of course, it’s not all latte sipping in the sun and hanging five on Bondi beach, we do actually do some work from time to time. For which we need a great news journalist to produce scintillating stories, gather scoops and be an all-round team player.
About the job
- B&T is an industry publication for the advertising, marketing and media sectors. So, yes, this is business to business journalism
- We’re looking for a news editor that loves to work contacts and get stories
- Our key editorial vehicles are the daily email newsletter (40,000 subscribers), the associated website (450,000 monthly page views) and socials
- B&T is the number one publication in its sector and its parent company, The Misfits, is seen as a desirable employer by the major Australian media companies (ie our staff get poached by the big guns)
- Freedom to drive our editorial news program forward and slot into a team of five full time journalists
- Awesome location in funky Surry Hills, Sydney
- Booming industry, growing company
About you
- 2-3 years’ plus experience within journalism
- Good news writing experience & ability
- Exceptional people skills
- Strong sense of humour
- Strong under pressure and used to tight (ideally daily) deadlines
- Resilient
- We’ll go goey at the knees if you’ve got strong B2B credentials but it’s not essential
- Newsdesk experience is preferred
About The Misfits
B&T is owned by The Misfits Media Company, which was co-founded by City University post grad, Dan Uglow and his business partner, David Hovenden. Further to B&T, our portfolio of brands also includes a travel industry publication, Travel Weekly; 8 awards shows, 2 conferences and a creative marketing agency.
The Misfits, and especially B&T, is growing at a rapid rate and we require more journalists. However, Australia is a small market and it’s hard to find suitably skilled Aussie journos. We’re looking for the best and we know that City Uni produces them.
About the package
- Sponsorship on an all-important skilled migration visa
- Relocation costs – one way plane ticket to Sydney (economy – soz but we ain’t that flush!)
- 20 days holiday
- Good salary + superannuation contributions (which is like a pension)
- Friendly & fun open plan office
- Office dog(s)
