JCDecaux & ViacomCBS Shut Sydney Offices Over Coronavirus Fears

Out of homer JCDecaux and media giant ViacomCBS have shut their Sydney offices today amid coronavirus fears.

The Australian Financial Review is reporting the decision was made last night after employees at both companies admitted coming in contact with someone affected with the virus. Both were separate incidents and, at this stage, the decision to shut the offices is precautionary.

JCDecaux offices are located in Sydney’s CBD, while ViacomCBS – makers of shows such as MTV and Nickelodeon – is located in Darlinghurst. The ViacomCBS-owned Network 10 is not affected.

A JCDecaux spokesperson telling The AFR: “A JCDecaux employee has been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19. The employee has self-isolated, is showing no symptoms and is awaiting the results of the test for the virus. As a precautionary measure, JCDecaux’s York Street office will be closed until the results of the test come back. The business is still operating, with staff working remotely.”

A ViacomCBS spokesperson adding that one of its employees “was currently seeking medical advice”.

The latest coronavirus scares follows OMD Sydney and Foxtel Media sending staff home last Friday and Monday after an OMD employee, visiting from the UK, visited both offices and later showed flu symptoms. The man later tested negative to the virus.
