Following on from news this morning tech retail chain JB Hi-Fi had refused entry to a man with Down Syndrome, the company has issued a statement apologising to the man, James Milne, and his family.
The statement, tweeted out by the company, said the team was looking into the incident and is resolved to learn from it.
The CEO of JB Hi-Fi, Richard Murray, said: “We would like to apologise unreservedly to James. We should have done better yesterday. We are going to make sure that we learn from this and do better in the future.
“I have sent a personal letter of apology to James and we are continuing to endeavour to contact the family to apologise directly.”

The news hit headlines Tuesday morning after a Facebook post from Milne’s sister outlined the events of the entry refusal.
According to the post, Milne was denied entry to the store as there was a ban on another man who had Down Syndrome.
When his sister pointed out the two didn’t look anything alike, the security guard allegedly said “well, they look the same”.
The viral post drew condemnation from social media, with many lambasting the brand to do something about the treatment of its customers.
