Jack Morton, the global brand experience agency, has announced the appointment of Austin Powers as Genuine X APAC lead and strategy director for the agency’s Singapore office.

In this newly created role, Powers (featured image) will spearhead the agency’s innovation practice, Genuine X, in APAC and oversee strategy for the Singapore office.

As Genuine X APAC lead, he will help clients across the region create extraordinary experiences by harnessing the opportunities presented at the intersection of emerging technology, content and data.

He will be based in Singapore, reporting to Charles Robinson, SVP, managing director at Jack Morton Singapore and Damian Ferrar, global head of Genuine X.

Powers brings over a decade of experience in Asia, working across fine art, film and marketing, using his insight into culture and society as a platform to create meaningful connections between brands and audiences.

Prior to joining Jack Morton, he was director of immersive & interactive, APAC, at Freeman in Shanghai.

Over the years he has worked with a wide variety of brands including Disney, Warner Bros, Ubisoft, Omega, Porsche, BMW and Microsoft.

Outside of work, he is a passionate conservationist, certified dive master and underwater photographer.

He is also the co-founder of Loud Ocean, a non-profit organization working across media, travel and education to support ocean conservation and inspire positive change.

Damian Ferrar said: “Austin’s diverse experience and unique strategic talent is a fantastic addition to the Genuine X team, which is focused on fueling creativity and innovation to push the boundaries of brand experience.

“I’m thrilled that Austin is joining the team at an exciting time of expansion for Genuine X, particularly within the fast-growing APAC market, of which Austin has an extensive understanding and wealth of experience.”

Charles Robinson said: “Our industry, audience expectations, and brand needs, are constantly evolving.

“Austin’s unique experience will help our clients find innovative strategies to engage their audience and create meaningful connections.”

The appointment comes at a time of expansion for Genuine X, reflecting clients’ growing business needs for innovation within brand experience.

Alongside Powers’ appointment, the agency is launching its Genuine X Academy – a global initiative which will give employees the opportunity to apply for an immersive secondment within the Genuine X team.

The aim of the academy is to give greater opportunity to Jack Morton’s entrepreneurial and innovative thinkers and to support the growing needs of its clients and the expansion of its innovation practice.
